PRX-T33 vs. Other Chemical Peels: Understanding the Differences

There are many professional skin treatments that could revitalize your look. Trying to sort out the differences and choose the best one for you can seem like an almost overwhelming task! This blog post aims to help by explaining some key differences between types of chemical peels. Specifically, it explores how PRX-T33 treatment is different from traditional chemical peels.

PRX-T33: Biorevitalization at Its Best

PRX-T33 is sometimes referred to as the “peel that doesn’t peel.” That might sound like a contradictory statement, but it basically means that this treatment can produce amazing results without peeling off the top layer of skin. Rather, it works within the skins deeper layers while leaving the outermost layer intact.

PRX-T33 uses a combination of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), koji acid, and hydrogen peroxide to promote the production of collagen, elastin, and new skin cells. After the treatment, you might notice that your fine lines and wrinkles are less noticeable, your pores are smaller, your skin is tighter, and scars and discoloration are not as prominent.

A major selling point of PRX-T33 is that, unlike traditional chemical peels, it does not require any downtime after treatment. (However, just like with most chemical peels, you should still avoid sun exposure to minimize irritation.)

Chemical Peels: Customized for Different Skin Needs

PRX-T33 is wonderful, but it has not pushed traditional chemical peels into obsolescence. These formulas use different types of acids to remove the outer layer of skin and reveal the new, healthier and fresher layer of skin that was hiding underneath.

Here are a couple of important things to note about chemical peels:

  • Many types of chemical peels are available. There is a chemical peel for many different skin concerns, including acne, uneven skin tone, wrinkles, sun damage, and more.
  • They can vary in their intensity. There are three main categories of chemical peels: superficial, medium, and deep. Deeper peels come with a longer downtime but tend to produce more dramatic results.
  • The number of peels needed can vary. With PRX-T33, a series of treatments is often necessary to achieve results. In some cases, a single chemical peel is enough.

PRX-T33 and traditional chemical peels both have an important place in the world of beauty. Talk to your med spa team to find out which option might be better for your unique skin concerns.
