PRP with Microneedling – Chicago, IL
Enhance Your Glow with PRP
By itself, microneedling is a remarkable treatment. But did you know that your results could be amplified by the addition of platelet-rich plasma (PRP)? Here at Natural Beauty Med Spa, we offer this innovative treatment to help our patients enhance their glow and achieve the smoothest, freshest skin possible. Read on below to learn more about the benefits of cosmetic PRP with microneedling, and get in touch with our Chicago team when you are ready to book your appointment.
What Is PRP?
Blood has four main components: red cells, white cells, plasma, and platelets. To obtain PRP, we take a small amount of a patient’s blood and place it in a spinning machine called a centrifuge. It separates the blood, so we can use plasma with a high concentration of platelets to enhance our patients’ treatments.
PRP contains healing and growth factors that are essential for helping the body recover after it suffers damage. It is often used in various settings to speed up healing after surgeries and dental procedures. Now, though, its value in the cosmetic sphere of medicine is gaining wider recognition.
What Are the Benefits of PRP with Microneedling?
Microneedling works because it causes minor damage to the skin. It stimulates the body’s ability to heal itself and leads to an increase in collagen (a structural protein). Its effects can be amplified when it is used alongside PRP.
Here are a few notes on the results that patients often experience when their microneedling is accompanied by PRP:
- A 2016 study found that microneedling with distilled water led to a 45.84% reduction in acne scars. That number leapt to 62.2% when microneedling with PRP was used.
- A 2019 review showed that PRP with microneedling can improve patient satisfaction, reduce acne scarring, and decrease the amount of downtime needed after the procedure.
PRP is also very safe. Since it uses your own blood, there is virtually no risk that you will have an adverse reaction to it.
Who Is a Good Candidate for PRP with Microneedling?
Most patients can benefit from adding PRP to their microneedling treatment plan. When you come in for your consultation, we will ask you some basic questions to determine whether it is right for you. It might not be suitable if you have certain medical conditions, such as HIV or a blood or platelet disorder.
Also, please note that PRP may increase the cost of your microneedling sessions. We are always transparent about the prices we charge and will help you to explore your payment options.
